Following my collaboration with the UNICA Organizing Committee during the last few weeks, I have been asked to design a flyer/brochure for the Romanian International Movie Festival for Teenagers, VideoArt.
Brief:
You can see the final proposal here: flyer. Festival's website here: http://www.concursulvideoart.ro/ From 19th until 26th of August, my small hometown, Suceava, will open its gates for the 78th edition of UNICA World Movie Contest. I was extremely pleased to find out that Suceava is finally breaking its bubble with this international project and decided to volunteer. My job was to design a booklet and a brochure which will be part of individual folders given to participants. You can see them by clicking on the words: penultimate version, final brochure, cover 1, cover2, flyer. For this task I decided to use InDesign. I was quite familiar with this software as I have used before for my academic essays, but the two weeks of working with it really helped me improve my skills. I am really happy with the result and the fact that this volunteering activity was good practice for my career in Architecture because it involved: 1. Communicating with a client The client was a former highschool professor teaching at "Petru Rares" National College in Suceava. We had a few meetings during which he told me how is he envisaging this and gave me all the information available for the brochure. I helped with suggestions (such as the use of an academic format for the main brochure instead of A4) and we discussed the opportunities and constraints and then came up with the brief. During all this I kept in touch with my client and always kept him informed of what is happening with the brochure. 2. Communicating with the printing office/publisher Important experience gained with this project comes from directly communicating with the printing office chosen by my client. I had to adapt to new constraints resulted from our discussions and budget only allowing for the black&white version.
3. A budget The tight budget was a constraint to be considered at all times. |
